Winner of Lyon (2-1) thanks to Payet’s two goals, OM climb on the podium and is, alone, at the second place of League 1 Conforama.

AN XXL TIFO

The secret was well kept and it was worth it. On the occasion of the club's 120th anniversary, Olympian fan groups prepared an XXL tifo that covered the entire Orange Velodrome. Covered in blue and white, the South stands paid tribute to one of the city's emblems, "the Bonne Mere", while a star shone on the North Stand, obviously reminiscent of the Olympians' victory in the Champions League in 1993. The Ganay grandstand celebrated the 120th anniversary of OM by honouring the club's founder: René Dufaure de Montmirail. This unique and exceptional tifo was deployed in a boiling atmosphere: 65421 spectators were present to support OM! The attendance record, which dated back to 2015 at a certain OM-PSG (65252), has been broken! What a night!

4000th goal claimed by payet

This Sunday evening, Dimitri Payet made a little more of an impact on OM's history. By converting his penalty, placed in the top corner, the Reunionese scored the 4000th goal in the club's history. The Olympian midfielder didn't stop there, however, as he scored another goal a few minutes later. Perfectly served by Lopez, Payet struck low and deceived the Lyon goalkeeper, allowing OM to widen the gap.

THE match

The Olympians made the perfect start to the match by quickly opening the scoring with a penalty from Payet. Like real warriors, the Olympians suffocated their opponents by putting a lot of aggressiveness and impact into the duels. That's how Dimitri Payet scored the second goal. First half ideal for the Marseille team as they led 2-0 at the break.
While the start of the second half was rather balanced, it was the Lyon players who were the most dangerous and managed to reduce the score by Dembélé. Eight minutes later, Mr. Gautier expelled Alvaro Gonzalez, who had fouled the Lyon striker. The Olympians played the end of the game with ten players in a huge physical battle that paid off, as the Olympians finally won 2-1!

OM ON THE PODIUM

Thanks to this victory against Lyon, the Olympians achieved the right operation of the ranking: they are now the only ones second in the overall ranking, and score 22 points. Perfect evening for Steve Mandanda and his teammates!

THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK

Make way for an international break for the Olympians. Some, like Steve Mandanda, will go to the national team, others will continue training at the Robert Louis-Dreyfus Centre. André Villas-Boas' men will be back in two weeks with a trip to Toulouse on Sunday 24 November at 9pm to close the 14th day of Ligue 1.
