Champions Trophy 2025: The coach's reaction
The reaction of our Italian coach, Roberto De Zerbi, speaking to Ligue 1+ after his team's defeat on penalties in the 2025 Champions Trophy against Paris Saint-Germain in Kuwait.
"It's tough, we played a great game. It's difficult to accept, to understand. I'm disappointed for the players, the club, the supporters. We deserved this trophy. We should be proud of what we've done. From this defeat, we must take away the performance. In four days, we've gone from the worst game to the best game of my career at OM.
We can look ahead to the league and the Champions League. Tonight, we played a better game than when we beat PSG at the Orange Vélodrome. Paris is the best team in Europe. They are a model for all of us. My team played well today.
Luis Enrique is a great manager. I'm pleased that he acknowledged that we played a better game than them. He's one of the great managers, like Guardiola.'
