Olympique de Marseille is pleased to announce the arrival of Algerian international midfielder Himad Abdelli from Angers SCO.

Born on 17 November 1999 in Montivilliers, Normandy, Himad Abdelli is now one of the most promising French-Algerian footballers of his generation. A midfielder for Angers SCO, he has established himself as a key player for his club and earned his place on the international stage with the Algerian national team.

Himad Abdelli is a product of the Le Havre AC training centre, a club renowned for discovering talents such as Paul Pogba and Dimitri Payet. After joining the youth teams and then the reserves, he rose through the ranks before making his professional debut on 31 October 2018 in a League Cup match against Troyes. A few days later, he played his first minutes in Ligue 2, beginning a steady progression in the professional world.

At Le Havre, he proved himself to be a versatile midfielder capable of combining build-up play with an attacking presence, scoring his first professional goals over the course of several seasons.

In June 2022, Abdelli signed with Angers SCO, then seeking a return to Ligue 1. He quickly became a key member of the team thanks to his vision, positioning and ability to energise the midfield.

His consistency was such that he reached the symbolic milestone of 100 games in the Angers shirt, celebrated by the club and its supporters.

His progress did not go unnoticed: in 2024, he was named in the Ligue 2 team of the year at the UNFP Awards, a distinction that underlined his impact in the championship.

Born in France, Himad Abdelli has Algerian origins on his father's side, which led him to choose to represent the Algerian national team.

His first selection came in June 2023 in a qualifying match for the Africa Cup of Nations, won 2-1 against Uganda.

More recently, after a period of absence, he was called up to participate in the 2025 CAN in Morocco. His involvement demonstrates his pride in wearing the Fennecs jersey and his commitment to ‘giving everything to make the Algerian people proud.’

Himad Abdelli's career has not been without its challenges. An operation to treat a hernia in 2025 kept him off the pitch for several weeks, but he returned with determination to reclaim his place in the Angers starting eleven.

At 26, Himad Abdelli has developed his game: capable of dictating the pace, creating opportunities and scoring important goals, he has established himself as one of the most complete midfielders in the French league.

Himad Abdelli has signed with Olympique de Marseille. He will strengthen Roberto De Zerbi's squad, bringing his qualities and experience to the team.

Welcome to OM, Himad!
