After two successful league outings and the international break, Les Olympiens kick back off in Ligue 1 Conforama with a trip to Monaco. André Villas-Boas's men will aim to continue their good momentum.

Linking up…

Nantes, Nice and Saint-Etienne: three matches unbeaten for OM, including two wins in the last two . Marseille, despite a defeat on Matchday 1 at home against Reims, have gotten back on track. Les Olympiens is tied with FC Nantes for the most points (7) in that time period.
The positive momentum has allowed OM to move up the rankings. Ending Matchday 1 in 18th position, Marseille is now in 8th place. The goal is to continue this good momentum.

…Through the Break

Obviously, after the two successes in Nice and against the Greens, Les Olympiens would have probably wanted to continue riding the consistency of matches, especially Dario Benedetto, who scored two goals in two games. But the schedule broke it all up with the international break ... After the match at Orange Vélodrome against ASSE, on 1 September, some Olympiens scattered around the world for international meetings. Will this break be beneficial to Marseille? We'll find our answer Sunday evening in the Principality of Monaco ...
During the international break, OM received a bit of bad news . Injuring his ankle during the summer, Florian Thauvin will have to have surgery. The Marseille striker will be unavailable until the winter break.

Monaco OFF to a poor start

Monaco is off to a difficult start to its season. Leonardo Jardim's team has not won in Ligue 1 Conforama. Despite a strong transfer period with more than 20 movements (transfers, returning loans and loans), the club still has not managed to take off. Two defeats 3-0 (against Lyon and Metz) followed by two draws 2-2 (against Nîmes
and Strasbourg) put the ASM in the relegation zone. Certainly, it must aim to score goals and for its first win.
The Marseillais will have to be wary of Islam Slimani, 2019 African champion with Algeria, who scored 3 of Monaco's 4 goals. And during the international break, he scored the goal in a  victory over Benin

FROM THE coach

"Our match in Monaco is very important, we have to continue our progression, it will be difficult to face a team that is still looking for its first win, they have players of very high quality, but I remain confident because we worked well this week, we played in 4-2-3-1, we can continue in 4-3-3, we can also counter-attack and change the direction of the game during a game.
"I have a lot of respect for Leonaro Jardim. He was one of the first to call me when I signed with Marseille. We speak often. He did a very good job in Monaco. I hope he's going to have a great season with his team outside of Sunday's game."
