To open Matchday 9 in Ligue 1 Conforama, OM lost to Amiens (3-1).

In Pink for a Good

At Amiens, Les Olympiens wore their usual blue away shirts, but with a special touch: the names and numbers were pink in support for "Pink October" to raise awareness against breast cancer.L'OM en rose pour la bonne cause

The match

Quickly, Les Olympiens allowed an early goal (11th minute) through by Aleesami. While Mandanda made what appeared to be an exceptional save, goal-line technology indicated that the ball had crossed the line by the smallest of margins.

OM responded with a powerful shot from Sarr that was saved by Gurtner. Les Olympiens equalised off a long-distance shot by Dario Benedetto, who had not scored since his brace in Monaco.

While Villas-Boas' men dominated the rest of the time, the referee awarded a penalty to Amiens, on a set piece that saw Caleta-Car draw the whistle. It was an especially surprising decision after the same center official waved off an identical shout by OM just a few minutes earlier.

In the second half, les Olympiens were not able to stage the comeback despite attempts by Sanson and Radonjic late in the game. Once again, Steve Mandanda was paramount in keeping his team in the game with his 1-v-1 save against Otero, but later he could do nothing in the same situation against Mendoza in added time.

Into the international break

Les Olympiens will next be back in 16 days. The next match is scheduled for Sunday, 20 October, at home against Strasbourg for Matchday 10 in Ligue 1 Conforama. Meanwhile, seven Olympiens will leave to be with their national team: Mandanda, Strootman, Khaoui, Sakai, Caleta-Car, Kamara and Radonjic.
