The Olympians were numerically superior throughout the second half, but finally found the lead thanks to Benedetto and Radonjic. OM regained second place in the standings.

A UNIQUE STARTING XI

In the absence of three of his defenders (Jordan Amavi, Alvaro Gonzalez, Duje Caleta-Car), all suspended, André Villas-Boas was forced to compose a new central pairing to face Toulouse. The Olympian technician has put his faith in youth by starting the duo Boubacar Kamara / Lucas Perrin, lined up together for the first time this season. The two Minots were accompanied by Bouna Sarr at the left lateral position, while Hiroki Sakai occupied the right lane. In midfield, we found the Rongier-Strootman-Sanson trio. On the side of the Marseille attack, Benedetto was a starter in point surrounded by Lopez on the right and Payet on the left. The captain, Steve Mandanda, was guarding the Olympian goal.

It is therefore a classic 4-3-3 that Villas-Boas concocted to face Toulouse, 19th in the standings, before the game kicked off.

THE FIRST HALF

Dominating in the first half with 74% of possession, the Olympians did not find the breakthrough. The fault lies with an imperial Baptiste Reynet who, from the 2nd minute, parried his knee in front of Perrin's straight header. The Toulouse goalkeeper also saved  Rongier's left-footed shot about ten minutes later.

The first period was marked by a key moment: Moreira's expulsion for an extremely dangerous tackle on Bouna Sarr's knee. The Olympians were going to play against ten men all through the second half.

Benedetto FREES l’OM

It took the Olympians just three minutes to get to safety in this match. It was Dario Benedetto who delivered OM in the 76th minute. The Argentinian, who had not scored since 4 October, found the net again, with Dimitri Payet serving a pass superbly. He scored his sixth goal of the season. Truly liberated after this opening, the Olympians continued to project themselves forward and Radonjic took advantage of Germain's counter-attack to get to the goal and double the lead for OM.

There was also the exceptional save of Mandanda's foot in front of Sangaré's header when the score was still 0-0.

Benedetto libère l'OM !

first ligue 1 conforama goal for Radonjic

Nemanja Radonjic, who arrived on the pitch just after the hour mark (63rd), was able to use his speed to cause trouble for the Toulouse team. The Serb was looking forward to his first goal in Ligue 1 with OM. It is now done and what a way it was done! Radonjic took advantage of Germain's counter-attack to take his ball to the goal, eliminated Rogel and struck a fine shot under the goalkeeper. Reynet was beaten.

L’OM return to second.

It took a little while for the victory to take shape, but it is well and truly achieved. This important win over Toulouse allowed the Olympians to pass Angers and regain their second place in the standings, now sitting on 25 points.

OM will next receive Brest at the Orange Velodrome on Friday 30 November at 8.45 p.m.
