After four consecutive victories, OM is solidly in second place and visits Angers on Tuesday at 19h00. It's a surprising head-to-head match between top-3 contenders.

The Right Moves

Last Friday, OM kicked off Matchday 15 in victorious fashion against Brest at the Orange Velodrome. Andre Villas-Boas' men won their fourth successive match, taking them to second place with 28 points. The results of the rest of the round confirmed the Marseillais in their position. Angers lost to Nice and Bordeaux drew in Reims. As a result, OM have increased a lead over these two competitors.

a surprise showdown

Without disrespecting Angers, it would have been rather difficult to predict at the beginning of the season that this match between the SCO and OM would be a top 2-vs-3 clash! But that is the case. Marseille, who now have a four-point cushion, could build a 7 point clearance with a win at the  Raymond-Kopa.
And Sunday, with the home match against Bordeaux at the Orange Vélodrome, it will be a new battle with a direct competitor ...

Angers' season

It's thanks to a good start to the season that the SCO is currently in third position. Indeed, during the first two months of competition, the Angevins took 16 points out of 24! The following days were more complicated. In October, Stéphane Moulin's side took only one point out of nine before returning to form in November, putting together a nearly flawless, two wins, draw and a defeat - to OGC Nice in the last round.
In the last two months of competition (October-November, 7 games), Angers has taken half the points as they did during the August-September period (8 games).

André Villas-Boas

The coach's Thoughts

"Angers is a solid team with pretty defensive principles. It is a dangerous opponent who plays quick. We will try to get a good result. We have had an extra day of recovery compared to Angers. This can help.
This week is very important for us. We have three games in a week. We are on a run of four consecutive wins. We must continue to win. Angers and Bordeaux are behind us in the standings and it would be great to widen the gap with these two opponents. They are consistent and dangerous right now."
