OM scored a fifth consecutive win in Ligue 1 Conforama by winning at Angers off goals by Sanson and Payet.

no changes…

If it's not broken, don't fix it. That's probably what André Villas-Boas had to say when he put his eleven names on the team sheet. Despite Gonzalez availability, the Portuguese coach trusted the same XI as against Brest on Friday night at the Orange Velodrome.

An Intelligent move

OM was dominated by Angers early in the game, but still opened the scoring on just its second shot. Payet, who took the first shot of the match, played a free-kick quickly to the right of the wall toward Sanson, who deceived the SCO goalkeeper in the 17th minute. Against the run of play, is what some observers say. Inevitable, say the fans!

Payet doubles the lead

On a tackle on Sakai in the penalty area, OM won a penalty. With a knock to his shoulder, the Japanese international took time to get up. Payet soon converted the penalty by fooling Butelle.
With this goal and the assist on the opening goal, the playmaker finished off his involvement in 100 goals in all competitions with OM (41 goals, 59 assists).

Lopez, 100 matches in the books !

The academy product and Olympien midfielder substituted into the match at halftime in place of Sakai. With his appearance a day before he turns 22 tomorrow, made his 100th appearance in Ligue 1 Conforama, all with Marseille.
He is the second youngest player to reach the 100-game mark with OM over the last 50 seasons, behind Samir Nasri (20 years, 4 months and 16 days).

The Run continues

Les Olympiens have scratched out Angers on Matchday 16 for a fifth consecutive victory. The Marseillais (31 points) are locked into second place, going clear of Angers by seven points. Bordeaux, next opponent of OM, has recently beat Nimes to move into the third position in the table. That match will be another No. 2-vs-No. 3 clash for André Villas-Boas' side on Sunday at the Orange Velodrome.
