PSG - OM (3-0): Disappointing night for OM
OM succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on a night of frustration for Rudi Garcia’s side.
Safe in the knowledge that nothing would worsen in the league standings thanks to Lyon and Monaco’s failure to win this weekend, OM had the rare of advantage of playing without fear this evening.
And despite starting strongly in the capital, OM quickly found themselves on the back foot. It was Kylian Mbappe who opened the scoring after a slip from Jordan Amavi opened the door for his fellow France international.
It was 2-0 shortly after. A well-measured pass found Neymar, whose goal bound shot was unfortunately turned into his own net by Rolando.
With PSG now comfortable in their play, OM began to stabilise a little, but were unable to trouble Alphonse Areola in the PSG goal.
In the second half, it proved to be more of the same. Edinson Cavani powered in PSG’s third, before Rolando was denied by a top save by Areola. For PSG, Neymar was stretchered off towards the end of the game with an injury.
OM remain 5 points clear of Lyon in the final Champions League qualification spot, and only two behind of Monaco in 2nd.
We’ll have another chance to defeat PSG in the Coupe de France quarter-final on Wednesday.
