Quickly reduced to ten men, OM, who had suffered many setbacks, brought back a point.

RETURN TO THE STARTING XI

After serving his three games of suspension, Jordan Amavi was back in the starting line-up in his left lane. The only change made by André Villas-Boas, the rest of the field was the same as against Metz, a classic 4-3-3 with Pipa Benedetto at the front of the attack. To face Lyon, the Olympians wore their third jersey. In the second half, the Marseille coach brought in Maxime Lopez, who was playing his 150th match with OM..

OM OPENS THE SCORE

Dimitri Payet ouvre le score.OM had a complicated first quarter of an hour of play during which the ball was in Lyon's possession. Vigilant on his line, Mandanda repelled a free-kick from Mendes. But on their first real chance, OM opened the scoring. A nice collective action initiated by Thauvin, followed by a flat foot from Dimitri Payet perfectly placed into the bottom corner of Anthony Lopes.

A CHALLENGING GAME

There is always something happening in this kind of encounter, unexpected twists and turns, unexpected playfulness. Against Lyon, OM unfortunately paid the price. Dimitri Payet, who had just opened the score, was sent off for a foul on Léo Dubois. First, the referee showed a yellow card and then, with the help of the video assistance, reversed his decision and Payet was asked to leave the field. A few minutes later, Lyon's Bard got a generous penalty converted by Aouar. Before half-time, Kadewere thought he was giving Lyon the lead, but after checking, he was rightly signalled to be in an offside position.

OM HELD ON

Boubacar Kamara.Reduced to ten men since the 19th minute of play, the Olympians put in a lot of effort to be able to hold the score and repel Lyon's offensives. OM tried as best they could to get close to the opponents' goal. Radonjic was able to centre in the back. Mendes was close to scoring an own goal and was saved by his team-mate Guimaraes. Lyon were pushing for a second goal. Aouar was also close to a second but the referee signalled a foul on Mandanda. A few minutes later, it was the OM captain's left post that saved the Olympians.

WINTER BREAK

Radonjic, Caleta-Car, Mandanda, Kamara, Sakai, Nagatomo, Khaoui and Strootman will leave on Monday for the national selection. The next meeting of the Olympians is scheduled for Saturday, October 17 at 9 pm with the reception of Girondins de Bordeaux. At the moment, OM currently has 9 points.
