Despite Radonjic's opener, OM lost in the Principality (3-1).

Balerdi IN 6

Facing Monaco, André Villas-Boas had his favourite 4-3-3 system. Alvaro returned from suspension and was back in the starting line-up in central defence alongside Duje Caleta-Car.

Leonardo Balerdi, usually a defender, was in the defensive midfield role in the absence of Boubacar Kamara who suffered a muscle injury. In attack, it was Dario Benedetto who occupied the point, supported by Florian Thauvin and Nemanja Radonjic.

Present in the group, Valentin Rongier wasn't at the end registered on the score sheet, due to a muscle injury that he felt against Lens.

Radonjic OPENS SCORE

As soon as the kick-off whistled, OM immediately put his foot on the ball and had the will to throw himself forward. In a classic 4-3-3, Pape Gueye touched a lot of balls (no less than sixteen duels in the first half). The Olympien pressure on the Monegasque camp, marked in particular by three corners obtained in ten minutes, smiled at OM quickly. Radonjic was on the edge of offside and received a perfect opening from Caleta-Car. The Serb's speed made the difference. He opened his foot to deceive Benjamin Lecomte. Solid in defence, the Olympians could trust their captain who had a difficult parry on Sofiane Diop's long-range shot half way up the field. Ten minutes later, Steve Mandanda lay perfectly on Volland's shot. Shortly before the break, Aguilar's pass to Ben Yedder was stopped by Alvaro who cleared and allowed OM to breathe. At the break, OM had the advantage on the scoreboard.

Milik DEBUTS

Just back on the pitch, on their first corner, the Monegasques were back on the scoreboard with a header from Maripan (48th). Two minutes later, Mandanda repelled Ben Yedder's attempt with a firm hand.

On the hour mark, Arkadiusz Milik, who had arrived in Marseille just two days ago, played his first few minutes under his new colours and replaced Dario Benedetto for the post.

Unfortunately, OM were once again surprised by Tchouameni who doubled the lead for Monaco from a corner that was not one. A difficult end to the match for OM who conceded a third goal from a free kick.

L'OM lost to Monaco and will host Rennes on Saturday 30th January.
