A Milik hat-trick gave OM a win against Angers. OM are clear in fifth place and are benefiting from Lens' slip-up at Bordeaux.

NEW LOOK FOR OM!

The Olympiens were wearing their new home shirt to face Angers. White, a few touches of blue and a perfect shirt for the coming season with a rainbow flocking as part of the campaign of this 37th round dedicated to the fight against homophobia.

For this last home game, Jorge Sampaoli chose a new system with four defenders and made two changes from the previous game. Hiroki Sakai started at left-back. In midfield, Rongier was back in the starting line-up due to the suspension of Pape Gueye. As usual, the attack was led by Milik and Payet.

Marseille starting XI : Mandanda - Lirola, Alvaro, Caleta-Car, Sakai - Kamara, Rongier, Payet - Thauvin, Milik, Henrique.

1000th goal of the season scored by milik

The match started off on a high note and quickly became more intense as the Olympiens tried to make a difference from the start. Florian Thauvin, who was playing his last match with OM tonight, was keen to score but saw his shot pushed away by Bernardoni (4th). The incessant Olympien attacks quickly paid off. A sublime collective action between Payet, Lirola and concluded by Milik allowed OM to take the lead. In the process, the Pole scored the 1000th goal of the Ligue 1 season.

With 8 shots on target to 0 at the break, the Olympiens were logically leading (1-0).

MILIK TREBLE

Frustrated at not having managed to double their lead in the first half, the Olympians returned to the pitch with the clear intention of sealing the match. With a touch of the ball, Payet found Milik between two defenders; full of composure the Pole adjusted and this time Bernardoni could do nothing.

Although they were 2-0 down, the Angevins managed to reduce the score through Pereira-Lage, who had forced Mandanda into an exceptional save on the previous action.

The second half was less dangerous for the Angevins, who conceded a second goal from a set-piece. Jorge Sampaoli sent on Amavi and Dieng. The young Olympian was the victim of a contact that led to a penalty for OM, which was whistled with the help of VAR and converted by Milik, who scored a hat-trick. The Olympiens never gave up and won the three points.

OM TAKE A BIG STEP TOWARDS EUROPA LEAGUE

It's still far from over, but by beating Angers, OM have moved into fifth place in the standings, which is synonymous with qualification for the Europa League. The defeat of Lens against Bordeaux, who were playing at the same time, benefits the Olympians who are now three points ahead of the Nordists. There is still one more step to climb with a trip to Metz on Sunday 23 May at 9pm.

FLOTOV's LAST MATCH

There is one who inevitably played this game with a twinge of sadness. It was the last time Florian Thauvin would be on the pitch at the Orange Velodrome. The midfielder, who has made 280 appearances for Marseille, was suspended for the final game of the season and will not play for the club again as he will be joining Tigres de Monterrey in a few weeks' time. The people of Marseille paid tribute to him by displaying a tifo at the top of the Virage Sud.
