OM remains on the right path
After four consecutive defeats, including two in Ligue 1 Conforama, OM's back was against the wall. The points won Sunday do a lot of good. Mentally, its apparent that the stacking up of losses had an impact on the club. The win keeps OM in the tight Ligue 1 race for the top-3 and top-5 places in the table. Les Olympiens are now sixth, just four points behind Lille in second. The defeats in Paris and Montpellier did not do as much harm, mathematically, as they could have.
With a third of the league in the books, OM is on the right path. Between second-place Lille and sixth-place Marseille, there are only four points. Rudi Garcia and his men have produced strong spells of winning performances in that stretch. Indeed, during the next 6 matchdays in L1, through the end of the year, the Phocéens will meet only one team currently ranked in the top five (Saint-Etienne), two in the top 10 (Reims and Nantes) and three in the bottom half of the table (Amiens, Bordeaux and Angers).
The points will have to be won in order to see Les Olympiens climb the standings and be placed among the best before the beginning of the second half.
