Gerson is an Olympien
After passing his medical, Gerson has signed a 5-year contract with les Olympiens. He is the second Olympien addition of this 2021 summer transfer window.
Gerson Santos da Silva was born on 20 May, 1997m in Belford Roxo, located in the northern suburbs of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
A versatile left-footed midfielder, he is quick and has above-average technical ability, which gives him the natural ability to project himself, with a good vision of the game and good athletic ability. He is defensively sound and has an outstanding ball-striking ability.
Gerson trained in the youth ranks of Fluminense FC before leaving for his first experience in Europe. He spent two years at AS Roma and then spent a season on loan at Fiorentina, making 82 appearances in three years in Italy. In 2019, Gerson signed for Flamengo on a four-year contract, the most expensive transfer of a Brazilian in the league. He played regularly with the Carioca team and won numerous titles including 2 Brazilian league titles and the Copa Libertadores in 2019.
Since July 2019 and his return to the Brazilian Serie A, and according to Opta, Gerson is the player who has won the most duels (493), suffered the most fouls (209, 1st tied) and with 134 successful dribbles, ranking 4th.
