Olympique de Marseille ended 2018 with a 1-1 draw away to Angers SCO at Stade Raymond Kopa on Saturday evening.

Rudi Garcia’s men played their first Ligue 1 game in 17 days with this fixture and were keen to make up the shortfall towards the podium as a result of several postponements.

But it was Angers who controlled the first half completely. Stephane Bahoken and Jeff Reine Adelaide went close for the hosts, the latter being thwarted by Mandanda.

The onslaught continued as Pierrick Capelle hit the post from distance before Bahoken was rewarded for his efforts with a well placed header past Mandanda.

Garcia rang the changes in the second half with the introduction of Bouna Sarr and OM stabilised with attacking chances created down the wing.

And it was the substitute who got the equaliser six minutes before time, converting from Thauvin’s cross on the right. Morgan Sanson could’ve stolen victory, but his 92nd minute effort went over the bar.

After the Christmas and New Year break, OM are in Coupe de France action on 6 January with Ligue 1 returning on the 13th.
