With his first-half goal, Ünder gave OM the victory that takes them up to the podium.

Kamara TAKES THE CAPTAINCY

To face Clermont, Jorge Sampali decided to change his team. Indeed, he made no less than seven changes compared to the match against Nice. The Argentinian coach decided to let his captain, Dimitri Payet, have a break. Thus, it was Boubacar Kamara who took the armband. Peres, Balerdi, Lirola, Under, De la Fuente and Dieng made up the starting eleven.

STARTING 11 : Saliba, Balerdi, Peres - Lirola, Kamara (cap), Guendouzi, Gerson, De la Fuente, Dieng.

Under OPENS THE SCORING

In the pouring rain, the Olympiens initially watched the Clermontois for the first ten minutes. Once the storm had passed, the visitors put their foot on the ball and Dieng came close to opening the score. After a back-heel from Guendouzi, the Olympian striker lost his duel with Desmas.

Ten minutes later, Under gave the Clermont-Ferrand keeper no chance. Dieng picked up the ball in midfield, set up Guendouzi who released Under. The Turk curled his left-footed shot past Desmas for the opening goal.

Sampaoli PLAYS HIS STARS

After the break, the visitors went close to adding to their lead through De la Fuente but the American was denied by Desmas. On the hour mark, Jorge Sampaoli sent on his key players Payet and MIlik. The number 9 had a great chance but his header was thwarted by Desmas, who had a great game.

PAU LOPEZ KEEPS OM IN IT

After 69 minutes of play, Pau Lopez made a decisive save from Allevinah. The Marseille goalkeeper prevented Clermont from regaining the lead on two occasions. The Olympiens dominated the end of the match but were unable to score a second goal. Ünder's first-half strike was enough to secure the three points.

OM IN THE TOP THREE

This victory in Clermont allows the Olympians to climb onto the podium. With 22 points, they took advantage of Lens' slip-up to move ahead of the Northerners in the standings. Jorge Sampaoli's men have rediscovered the taste for victory on the road. It's now time for the Europa League and the reception of Lazio in four days, before facing Metz at the Orange Velodrome on Sunday 7 November at 1pm.
