Same as two weeks ago in Rome, OM and Lazio shared the points after a 2-2 draw.

One for the kids

The Depé stand was closed for the home match against Lazio but UEFA authorized OM to open this stand to children. Marseille invited 10,500 children that are members of different associations and football clubs within the OM Next Generation program to come and fill the Depé corner and to set the mood.

Four changes To the xi

After the trip to Clermont last Sunday, Jorge Sampaoli rotated his players in anticipation of the match against Lazio. On Thursday night, the Argentine manager made four changes to the starting line-up: Caleta-Car, Rongier, Payet and Milik replaced Balerdi, Gerson, de la Fuente and Dieng.

100% Milik

The tension was palpable before the match kicked off, with only one point separating the two sides in Group E. OM opened the scoring on the half-hour mark as Ünder crossed for Milik who was fouled by Acerbi inside the box. The Spanish referee utilised VAR before awarding the penalty. The Polish striker took it himself and converted it by placing it hard and to the left of the Lazio goalkeeper.

Lazio Equalises and then takes the lead

Heading toward half-time with a 1-0 lead for OM, the Romans won a corner deep into stoppage time. The last of the first half... After a scramble, a Lazio shot was deflected by Saliba onto the feet of Felipe Anderson who scored from close range. Marseille waved for offside but the VAR confirmed the Italian equaliser.
After the break, despite a very good start from Marseille, the visitors then took the lead after a few minutes. Immobile took advantage of a moment of poor control by Saliba.

OM Equalise!

The Olympiens pushed for their comeback all through the second period. Harit entered in place of Kamara to bring even more attacking energy. But the Italians kept steady thanks to their experience. Ünder saw a cross wrapped around the post with no one able to cut it off. Marseille was laying siege to the Lazio goal, pushed by  59,163 spectators. And it paid off because in the 81st minute, Guendouzi crossed for Milik whose shot was pushed away but the ball was still in play and Payet finished a tight angle shot under the bar.
The siege continued on the Italian goal, and the last attempts fell short as OM took a fourth draw in as many games in the Europa League this season.
