OM's starting line-up has been changed again this Sunday afternoon when they took on RC Strasbourg. Jorge Sampaoli has made seven changes to his starting line-up from the one he fielded against Lokomotiv Moscow at the Orange Velodrome last Thursday. Lopez, Caleta-Car, Lirola, Kamara, Payet, Henrique and Dieng replaced Mandanda, Balerdi, Guendouzi, Gerson, Ünder, Milik and de la Fuente.

A CLOSED FIRST HALF

There were few chances to be had in the first 45 minutes of the match. The tactical face-off did not allow both teams to find space or play in depth. Gueye took advantage of a corner that was pushed away by the Alsatian defence to try a shot that went narrowly wide and Dieng, well set up by Payet, drove into the box but his shot found the outside of the net.
Strasbourg only had one opportunity, a Diallo goal after a shot was saved by Lopez but an offside flag was given at the start of the action.

DIENG'S WORLDIE

The young striker signed a new contract on Friday and he celebrated with a goal, a very nice one against Strasbourg. A move started by Payet who launched Henrique on the right wing. The Brazilian's cross found Dieng who made a beautiful scissor kick and sent the ball into the back of Sels' net.
It was Dieng's fourth goal of the season and Henrique's first assist of the 2021-22 season.

Caleta-Car doubles the lead

Strasbourg were taking the game by the scruff of the neck with Gameiro and Liénard coming on. Lopez had notably stopped a good chance from Ajorque. But realism had chosen its side at the end of the afternoon at the Meinau stadium. From a corner taken by Payet, Caleta-Car popped up at the near post to head the ball into the net. The goal allowed OM to avoid a comeback from RCSA with less than ten minutes to go in normal time.

OM ALONE IN SECOND

The Olympians reacted well after the home defeat against Brest. They beat Lokomotiv Moscow at home and Strasbourg away in less than four days. The three points from this latest victory allow OM to climb back onto the podium in second place (32 points), behind PSG, with a one-point lead over Rennes and two over Nice.
