The Olympiens produced a serious performance against US Chauvigny. Milik, Ünder and Harit scored the three goals at Beaublanc stadium in Limoges.

FEw CHANGES

For the first match of 2022, Jorge Sampaoli made only two changes compared to the last outing in 2021 against Reims at the Orange Velodrome (1-1). The two changes concern the goalkeeper position, where Mandanda replaces Lopez, and Rongier, whose place is taken by Henrique. The other nine starters against Stade de Reims are also in the starting line-up for this round of the French Cup against Chauvigny in Limoges.

Mandanda, FURTHER INTO FOLKLORE

Olympique de Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda played his 600th match in all competitions in Limoges. This is a staggering figure, as it is 146 games more than the second most capped Olympian: Roger Scotti with 454 games.
Steve Mandanda played his first match for OM on 25 August 2007 in Caen (1-2).

Milik, first scorer in 2022

The players from Chauvigny rode their luck well for their first participation in the last 32 of the French Cup. The Marseille team dominated the first half. Guendouzi almost opened the scoring but it was Milik who finally found the net. The Polish striker took a cross from Peres and acrobatically volleyed the ball past the keeper.

Ünder doubles the lead, harit seals victory

The Olympiens were still dominant and doubled their lead shortly before the break with a fine three-man move. First it was Saliba who saw Gerson's call in deep. The Brazilian then crossed back to Ünder who flat-footed past Caillaud to make it 2-0.

In the second half, Gerson scored a second assist with ten minutes to go. The Brazilian, facing the goalkeeper from a tight angle, cleverly played a back pass to Harit, who scored the third goal for the Olympiens in an almost empty net.
