Olympique de Marseille drew 1-1 with Stade Rennais F.C. on Sunday in a challenging game at Roazhon Park.

The visitors were aiming for four wins in a row for the first time this season in order to cap off a revitalizing February - but Rudi Garcia’s men had to be wary of a Rennes side on a high after securing Europa League last 16 qualification.

And it was the hosts who enjoyed the best of the spoils in the first half, as Benjamin Andre put his side in the lead after 7 minutes.

Steve Mandanda was called into action several times as he came up trumps against Mbaye Niang and Clement Grenier, the latter only just failing with a whizzing free-kick that the goalkeeper expertly turned around.

If OM were on the back foot in the first half, the team talk at the break did the trick. The team came out running in the second period and were promptly rewarded when Valere Germain snuck in at the first post to head past Koubek.

He almost had a second five minutes later when Koubek was caught out on a cross, but Germain’s shot flew narrowly wide. Mandanda would later deny Niang with his feet.

Jordan Amavi saw red in stoppage time with a late challenge that cut off a counter attack as OM ended with 10 men.

OM entertain Saint Etienne at the Orange Velodrome next weekend.
