Olympique de Marseille announces the signing of Congolese international Chancel Mbemba. The 27 year old central defender, who arrives on a free transfer, signed a contract until 2025 with the Olympic club after passing his medical examination.

After Samuel Gigot and Isaak Toure, Chancel Mbemba is the third Olympic recruit of the Summer 2022 Transfer Window.

Born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo on August 8, 1994, Chancel moved to Belgium to play for Anderlecht at the age of 17. His career took him from Anderlecht to Newcastle, followed by FC Porto. In 9 seasons, Chancel played more than 270 matches, including 26 UEFA Champions League matches and 10 UEFA Europa League matches. The Congolese international, with 64 caps, became Belgian champion in 2014 and achieved two league and cup doubles with FC Porto in 2020 and 2022.

His speed, his power, his impact in defensive duels as well as his numerous European games, make this real warrior a very valuable player, whose experience will benefit our collective. Chancel Mbemba will put all his energy and talent at the disposal of the club to achieve its objectives.
