Olympique de Marseille announces the signing of the French international Jonathan Clauss from Racing Club de Lens. The 29 year old right back has signed for 3 years with the Olympic club after passing his medical examination.

Born in Strasbourg on September 25, 1992, Jonathan has experienced a gradual rise to international top level, from the 3rd division to the French national team in less than 7 years.

 

He played for US Raon-l'Etape, US Avranches and Quevilly-Rouen, upon joining Bundesliga 2 side Arminia Bielefeld in 2018. In Germany, he played 65 games and played a huge role in the promotion of his club to the Bundesliga in the 2019-2020 season with 5 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

 

The following summer, his good performances allowed him to join RC Lens in Ligue 1 Uber Eats. In the North of France, he continues his momentum: 78 games, 11 goals and 18 assists. Jonathan was named part of the Best of the League XI of the Ligue 1 in the last two seasons. On March 17, 2022, he was selected for the first time in the French national team by Didier Deschamps.

 

A true right-sided piston, capable of dominating the entire right side, he has the ideal profile to fit into the game plan of Igor Tudor. Jonathan Clauss will put all his energy and determination at the disposal of the club to achieve its objectives.
