Marseille defeated by OL Lyonnes
They resisted, they fought, but their opponents were too strong. Every match has its own story, and the Arkema Première Ligue match between Marseille and OL Lyon on Saturday evening at the Francis-Turcan stadium in Martigues was no exception. Although it was not an LFFP Cup or French Cup match, the outcome was the same: defeat for OM.
Lyon opened the scoring shortly after the half-hour mark and doubled their lead just before half-time. After returning from the dressing room, they stepped up the pace. The punishment was severe: three goals in seven minutes to lead 5-0. Marseille reacted quickly with a penalty converted by Margaux Le Mouël and a long-range goal from Melissa Herrera on a pass from Jenny Perret. At the end of the game, Lyon scored a sixth goal for a final score of 6-2.
In the standings, OM is ninth with 15 points. In the next match, on Wednesday 11 March at 4.15 p.m., Marseille will travel to PSG.
