Corinne Diacre: “We’re going to fight”
Match analysis
It’s very difficult to analyse this straight away because the disappointment is so great. There was a lot at stake in this match. We fell short on the sporting side of things, but we can thank the 35,700 spectators for the excellent organisation. There is still hope because we’re still ahead in the table and have matches left to play. We’re going to fight.
The reaction
The stakes took precedence over the game itself. Mistakes are part of the game. We didn’t rise to the occasion collectively, individually, and I certainly didn’t either. We were 2-0 down, we pulled one back to 2-1, but even after changing our system, we could have played for ages without scoring.
The disappointment
There is a great deal of disappointment and sometimes words fail us. The girls are disappointed, for themselves, for the fans who supported us. It’s not easy to find the words. We’re disappointed. I take full responsibility for this defeat. We must remain united in victory and in defeat.
The decisions
Decisions had to be made. I made them. I tried to find a balance. It’s human nature to play the match in your head.
The noise
I don’t think… It goes beyond the fact that we couldn’t hear each other. The stakes made us timid. When you don’t run, when you don’t offer solutions… Kbida played the ball back after a minute because she had no options up front. We’ll keep working hard and we’ll keep fighting.
The crowd
They didn’t let us down. I’m disappointed for them, the club, the management. It could have been a great celebration. We need to keep our heads held high and thank the crowd who supported us right to the end. We lacked that little bit of extra spirit.
A historic moment
I’m proud to be at OM. I savoured the moment during the warm-up, but that feeling faded after a minute and the goal. It’s not easy at 0-0, so it’s even harder to chase the score. We tried, but it wasn’t enough. There are three games left and we’re in control.
