Olympique de Marseille is delighted to announce the arrival of Federico Balzaretti as Assistant Sporting Director, alongside Medhi Benatia.

Born in Turin on 6 December 1981, Federico Balzaretti enjoyed a brilliant playing career, successively playing for Torino, Juventus, Fiorentina, Palermo and AS Roma.

An Italian international, he has made several appearances for the Squadra Azzurra and was a finalist in Euro 2012.

At the end of his playing career, Balzaretti began his transition into management by joining the sporting department of AS Roma (2015 to 2019) before moving to Vicenza and then Udinese, where he held the position of sporting director before returning to AS Roma in January 2025.

Federico Balzaretti joins Olympique de Marseille today to assist Medhi Benatia. His main responsibilities will be to oversee the recruitment unit and help develop the club's young talent.
