Passing of Rolland Courbis
The club has lost a figure from its history, an iconic coach and a key personality in French football. With Rolland Courbis' passing, we lose a voice, a vision and a passion that left their mark on Olympique de Marseille and beyond.
A product of the OM academy, he was part of the team that won the double in 1971/1972 and returned to the club in the late 1990s to become its coach. A man of character, conviction and experience, he always promoted lively, generous football driven by collective commitment. His deep knowledge of the dressing room and his ability to unite and pass on his knowledge influenced generations of players.
A Marseillais at heart, he embodied popular, dynamic football. His unmistakable accent carried his frank, direct, often passionate and always sincere words.
Olympique de Marseille extends its deepest condolences to his family, loved ones and all those who crossed his path in the world of football.
Rolland Courbis will leave an indelible mark on the memory of French football and in the hearts of the Olympique de Marseille community.
A mass in memory of Rolland Courbis will be celebrated this Saturday, January 17th at 3:30 pm at the Saint-Vincent de Paul Church "Les Réformés", in Marseille.
