Official press release from Olympique de Marseille in regard to the AS Saint-Etienne match: OM played away to end Matchday 23 day of the Ligue 1 Conforama.

A few hundred metres from the entrance to the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium on Wednesday night, buses of OM supporters were targeted by hooded individuals that violently attacked them. The coaches have suffered significant damage.

When OM' first team arrived in the parking lot of the stadium, supporters were confined to the spot and sustained the throwing of multiple objects from the Stéphanois supporters and particularly violent reactions from the police who used tear gas, a watercannon and apparently flash-bangs. They were not allowed to enter the stadium for unclear reasons.

Pending  the precise circumstances of these incidents, OM regrets its supporters were forced to leave for Marseille without being able to attend the match for which they had traveled to in an organized fashion.

OM supporters are victims on two counts this evening: first due to the blind brutality of certain opposing supporters, and secondly by being refused the right to live their passion for OM.

Olympique de Marseille reserves the right to consider and implement any steps or actions that will allow the Club and its supporters to be restored to their rights.

Allez l’OM !
