On July 4, 2009, the OM First Team was in pre-season camp in Evian on the shores of Lake Geneva when news of the death of Robert Louis-Dreyfus spread like wildfire, , plunging the club and its supporters into sadness.

Ten years later, the entire Olympique de Marseille takes a moment for a thought for his family, Margarita and his children, who worked so hard for the club for many years.

Robert Louis-Dreyfus deeply loved OM, which he bought in December 1996. It was then that the team rose into the first division after two years spent in D2.

Born June 14, 1946 in Paris, "RLD" is the heir to a dynasty of grain brokers and shipowners. His career is impressive. A graduate of Harvard, he took control of adidas in 1993 and raised the mark on all three bands.

Despite his investments, Robert Louis-Dreyfus won only one Intertoto Cup. He saw his club fall twice in the UEFA Cup final (1999, 2004), twice in the Coupe de France final (2006, 2007) and finish as Ligue 1's runner-up in 1999.

After the loss of "RLD", which the Training Centre is named for, his wife, Margarita, became the new boss of Olympique de Marseille. She was the majority shareholder of the Provencal club when it won the championship (2010), three editions of the Coupe de la Ligue (2010, 2011, 2012) and two editions of the Trophée des Champions (2010, 2011).

On October 17, 2016, the Louis-Dreyfus era ends. After difficult seasons, Margarita Louis-Dreyfus sold the club to the current majority shareholder, Frank McCourt.

Before him, no one had invested so much in the Club. Olympique de Marseille will never forget ...
