Olympique de Marseille has announced its collaboration with Waze, the community navigation app used by 12 million users in France. OM joins a community of more than 300 event organisers around the world to offer their supporters more fluid routes to and from their meeting places.

Designed as an exchange of data, Waze's Global Event Partner (GEP) program provides real-time anonymized data to its partners in its community of 12 million drivers. The GEP allows partners to access Waze's tools to report their events and better prepare traffic flows and parking needs for individual events.

For Thierry Aldebert, Director of Operations at Olympique de Marseille, "Access to the stadium is an essential issue for the Club, and we are discussing with the major players in this area to make our supporters' journey more fluid and enjoyable. . The collaboration with Waze is totally aligned with this process. It will provide a much more accurate level of information, in real time: blocked roads, the best ways to access or leave the stadium, while dissuading non-event participants from approaching the event area. Waze will also alert users of the application upstream of the matches, whether they are local residents or are using near the stadium.

In France, this type of partnership has enabled organizers of the 2018 Ryder Cup to warn users of the impact of the event on their journey. Waze also collaborates regularly with the Lille and Saint-Denis.

"We are delighted to be able to partner with a historic club like Olympique de Marseille with a personalized approach. We can continue to improve our services to drivers at an ultra-local level: the Orange Vélodrome is at the heart of the second largest city in France! Waze Global Event will help more than 300 event organizers around the world this year. Spectators, concert halls and convention centers can find the best route and the most convenient parking spaces when they come. By no longer having to worry about traffic or blocked roads, the public will benefit from these events," said Jerome Marty, Managing Director of Waze France.
