On May 5, 1992, a few minutes before the kick-off of the Coupe de France semi-final between the Bastia Sporting Club and OM, a temporary platform set up for the event at the Armand Cesari Stadium in Furiani collapsed with thousands of people. The tragedy caused the death of 18 people and left 2,357 wounded.

This was the largest disaster in the history of French football.

On May 5, 2019, 27 years after the tragedy, Olympique Marseille, touched by this terrible ordeal, has a thought for the victims and their families.
