OM and North Africa — and more broadly the Arab community — have had close relations for many years. Coming from all corners of the African continent, many players have worn OM’s jersey throughout the Club’s history, greatly increasing the reputation of OM and making the club one of the most popular on the other side of the Mediterranean .

"In order to get closer to the Arab community and its many supporters in North Africa and the Middle East, OM is pleased to announce the opening of Arab accounts on Twitter and Facebook. The Marseille club will produce specific content to strengthen its presence in North Africa and the Middle East," said Miguel Bertran, Deputy Chief Marketing & Revenue Officer at Olympique de Marseille.

With 1.5 million fans on Facebook and more than 400,000 on Twitter, the Arab community is OM's second largest fan base. The Arabic language is the second most widely spoken language on OM's social media networks.

Soon, in the manner of special jerseys printed in Mandarin to celebrate the Chinese New Year against Bordeaux at the Orange Velodrome, OM will launch his special collector jersey printed in Arabic to be won on the Club’s Arabic social media networks.
