The welcome from the fans
Thank you. I was expecting something, but not this much enthusiasm. I'm very happy and will be eternally grateful.
Behind the scenes of the return
Since I left, I've kept in touch with the players and the management. This summer, I spoke with Medhi Benatia and Pablo Longoria. I followed the season and the matches, they didn't need to convince me.
Discussions with Roberto De Zerbi
We talked with the coach because I kept in touch with him. He didn't want me to leave. The idea is to bring my experience. I'm flexible, I can play in the centre or on the wings. I can adapt.
Any regrets about leaving?
When I make a choice, I have no regrets. You have to move forward and make the most of that choice. I improved technically there, I helped the team play, we played with two strikers and I made a lot of progress. My speed is still there, as are my goals. I would have liked to have been involved last season.
The evolution of OM
A lot of work has been done from the ground up with Pablo Longoria and Medhi Benatia. They're doing a tremendous job with the coach. We know him and that's good for the club, which is only getting better. It's a good thing for me to come here.
How are you physically?
I feel ready. I've got a full season under my belt, even if you think the level isn't the same there. I've posted things on social media to give you an idea of how I feel physically. But the only answer will come on the pitch. Mentally and physically, I'm ready.
How was your time in Saudi Arabia?
It was a great experience for me. Outside of football, life is very pleasant with welcoming and open people. I lived there with my family and my children. In terms of safety, it's safe. The people are nice. As for football, it's progressing, and it's enjoyable to play against the big teams because the stadiums are full. It's hot, so sometimes there are fewer people in the stadiums. It's physically tough at the start and end of the season, but it's been a great experience.
Did Roberto De Zerbi's presence play a role in your return?
It was a factor. At the end of my first spell, I saw how he worked. I knew something was going to happen. I think we're going to do a good job.
Amine Gouiri
When you're a competitor, you come to win. I'm here to help the club and the team progress. The most important thing will be to give it your all, whether it's Amine Gouiri or me. I experienced that at Saint-Etienne and Arsenal. Having someone new come in gives you a boost. That's the goal. Competition gives you energy.
Your view of the team
Very positive. I've seen the matches and I'm watching the series. There are ups and downs. I can't wait to integrate into the group and give it my all.
Other offers besides OM
Yes, I had some very good offers from Saudi Arabia, the Middle East and Europe, but this was a choice made with my heart because I've had some very powerful experiences here. I've worked hard. I need to reconnect with the fans and the stadium. Great things are going to happen.
The Orange Vélodrome
I can't wait!! I can't wait for tomorrow, just to experience the atmosphere at the Orange Vélodrome again.
Ambitions
I watch the series and I'll repeat the coach's words. We're aiming for the top. The club is giving itself the means to compete with PSG. In the Champions League, it will be a new experience for some, but not for others. I'd like to go as far as possible. I've never gone past the quarter-finals. Why not this year? With the new format, I'm not setting any limits.
Do better than two years ago
There's a sense of revenge. I hope to go further with this group. We can achieve great things.
The Champions League
The music is the same... I don't think it played. We would have been in the Europa League, it wouldn't have been a problem.
Leo Balerdi
He's always impressed me, he's got strength of character. Right from the start, I understood his mindset, his personality. He takes responsibility. He's got a strength of character that's often typical of Argentinians. I'm happy for him.
The Olympique squad
When you see the names and the commitment, it can only make you want to be part of it. I'm hungry. I can bring my little bit of experience.
The welcome from his teammates
It's been very good. It went very well, especially with Amine Harit. He came to Saudi Arabia to watch the King's Cup final. They teased me, but I won't go into details.
Mason Greenwood
He's the star boy! He's very strong, very good. I really liked his season and now he's working even harder than last season. In Saudi Arabia, I had a teammate who had played with him in Spain and he told me he was a phenomenon. I'm happy he's with us.
Ready to play tomorrow?
If it were up to me, I'd play tomorrow! But we'll see what the staff say. I think I'll be ready to start playing next week.
OM's image in Saudi Arabia
Yes, I met some OM fans there. And some players follow OM there.
