Four days after taking up camp at St George's Park, the training center of the English national teams, les Olympiens took to the pitch for their first pre-season match of the season on Sunday against U23 Stoke City.

The match began well for new OM coach André Villas-Boas and his players. Les Olympiens, led by captain Dimitri Payet, built consistently throughout the first half, but still could not beat the goalkeeper. At the break, the score remained level (0-0).

In the second half, the OM's Portuguese coach changed nearly all of his team. The opportunity came for some of the younger Olympiens to showcase their skills. On a corner kick by Marley AkéLucas Perrin cut in and headed in the match's only goal (60 ').

By winning this first friendly, André Villas-Boas and his players have launched toward the 2019-2020 season. The work continues with the next match, Thursday, July 11, against Accrington Stanley FC at 19h00 CET (on Canal+).
