Roberto De Zerbi: ‘Enthusiasm, courage and a good attitude’
The training camp in Rome
I miss you all a lot. We worked hard and prepared well. We saw enthusiasm, courage and a good attitude. We have 58 points, which is well deserved. We needed to go through a period like this and it can be positive.
Amine Gouiri
Not just in the last game, he was a very strong player even before his hat-trick. When we play against strong opponents, we prepare ourselves. Our opponents have to do the same before they play against Rabiot, Greenwood or others.
Jonathan Rowe
He's got everything. He can play on the left, he did it against Nice in the second half. He's a quick player. He's unpredictable. I also played him at No. 9 in Monaco and against Brest. That's why I preferred him to Neal Maupay. Neal is a pure striker, but Jonathan can also play on the left.
An update on the squad
Pol Lirola has a problem, we'll see on Sunday morning. Everyone else is available. I have to choose a starting eleven and a system.
Is 4-3-3 the best system?
The best system for OM this year is to play with three at the back and two midfielders. We changed against Brest, we can change, but for my players, the best system is based on their characteristics. Personally, I prefer a two-man defence. But the important thing is to respect the characteristics of your players. A coach who doesn't do that isn't very intelligent.
How can you not make calculations?
One point wouldn't be enough. Lille is a good team that has been performing well in Ligue 1 and the Europa League for several years now. Just defending and looking for a draw wouldn't be right. We're only focusing on ourselves. We're not thinking about Paris, who have lost their last two games, or Nice, who have just won.
Lille with two strikers
Good question, you're ready to be a coach... Lille play with two strikers and playing with three defenders could give us a numerical advantage.
A deserved second place
I believe in hard work and in getting what you deserve. I don't like getting things I don't deserve. I analyse things honestly, even after defeats. If we're talking about the Champions League, we deserve it, but the league isn't over yet. There are three games left, so we'll see if that's the case at the end.
