HAC-OM: 29th podium finish for OM in Ligue 1
Olympique de Marseille secured its 19th victory of the Ligue 1 season on Saturday evening in Le Havre. This win guarantees the club a place on the championship podium, in second or third place, with one match remaining in the 2024-2025 season. OM is therefore mathematically qualified for the Champions League and its new single-group format, which was introduced this season.
Whether they finish second or third, our Olympians will find out on Saturday evening at around 11 p.m. after hosting Stade Rennais. This will be the 29th time in its history that OM has finished on the Ligue 1 podium and the third time in the last four editions of the championship.
Olympique's success in Normandy was built on a brace from Amine Gouiri and a goal from Mason Greenwood. The Algerian international has scored 10 goals for OM since his arrival in January 2025. He has thus become OM's top scorer among players who joined the club in January in Ligue 1 since at least 1947-48.
For his part, Mason Greenwood scored his 19th goal in the 2024-2025 McDonald's Ligue 1 at the Stade Océane. One more goal will see him equal Bafétimbi Gomis as Olympique Marseille's top scorer in his first season with the club in the top flight in the 21st century.
