The reaction of our Italian coach, Roberto De Zerbi, after his team's victory over Paris SG at the Orange Vélodrome at the end of the fifth matchday of Ligue 1 McDonald's 2025-2026.

The extraordinary atmosphere

No, it's not normal. You have to appreciate and savour every time you come to this stadium. We'll miss it when we're gone. We played a great game. The first half was very good, with a lot of pressure. In the second half, we scored with physical energy. When we looked at the scoreboard, we couldn't wait for it to end. It's a deserved victory against a team that scores goals like Sacchi's Milan or Guardiola's Barça.

The best victory

It's one of the best days since I arrived in Marseille. Beating PSG was a dream because PSG has no rival. It's just one victory, three more points. I didn't give the players any days off because the most important match is on Friday in Strasbourg. We don't necessarily have to win it, but we've taken another step towards our goal of becoming a great team.

An important success

This victory should not give the team anything more. We have strong players. The defeat in Madrid helped us. We have good players, and we have to thank the management for that. When I look at the team, I see a strong team. Friday will be more important than tonight. I've already warned the players, they know that.

The trip to Strasbourg

I'm not a magician, I prepare the players as best I can. We celebrate while respecting our opponents. We may talk about it in 10 or 30 years. But tomorrow, we'll have to forget everything and prepare for the match against Strasbourg, who are ahead of us in the table. If we beat Paris but arrive in Strasbourg in flip-flops, it means we're not ready.

The lessons of Madrid

Yes, it's true, we analysed the match against Real Madrid thoroughly. It's to the players' credit that it worked so well. There are players who give the impression that they've been there for two years. We saw a sense of dominance in the match. At home, we have the feeling that no one wants anyone to turn off the stadium lights.
