The reaction of our Italian coach, Roberto De Zerbi, after his team's defeat at the Orange Vélodrome against Liverpool FC.

Regrets

I don't like that word. We played badly. We conceded a silly goal. We were playing against Liverpool, but the first half was more or less evenly matched. The game revolved around Pavard. When we found him, we managed to get out of trouble. We lost the ball stupidly. The game opened up in the second half and with space in front of Liverpool, we suffered. They had chances, but so did we.

Analysis of the game

Liverpool played with four defenders, two midfielders and four on the same line. Either a midfielder opened up on Pavard or we spread out. We continued to play down the middle and lost possession. We should have read the game better, compared to what we had prepared.

On restraint

We had chances in the first half, we could have done better but we didn't. We still have ups and downs. Sometimes we play like we did against Angers, sometimes like we did against Nantes. It's hard to accept. The will was there, but it's not enough. We need to make fewer mistakes with our passing. We can do better. Always saying that the opponent is stronger... We already knew that yesterday. Lens and Bruges are still to come. If someone had told us yesterday that we could still qualify in the last game against Bruges, we would have been happy.

The plan

Pavard could have scored in the first half. Pavard can and must attack. In the first half, we stayed the same.

A final in Bruges

The pressure is always there in Marseille. The problem isn't the pressure, it's playing well. Yes, it will be a final, I don't know if a draw will be enough. We're not going there to draw, but to play like we did in Kuwait.

In danger of not qualifying

I don't know if nine points will be enough. We'll play to win, hoping to play better than we did tonight. Bruges is a respectable team and they'll also be playing to qualify.

Nayef Aguerd and the new signings

I saw him before the match. I don't know if he'll be available on Saturday. The new signings are two quality players. They have talent and great potential.
