Les Marseillaises: La prise du Vél
On Saturday 28 March 2026, Olympique de Marseille will reach a major milestone in its history. For the first time since its creation, the OM women's team will play an official match at the Orange Vélodrome. This will be a defining moment for the club, its players and French women's football.
Facing Montpellier HSCF on the 19th day of the Arkema Première Ligue, the Marseillaises will take to the Orange Vélodrome in a highly symbolic match entitled ‘La Prise du Vel’ (The Taking of the Vel). This match is set to leave a lasting mark on the history of Olympique de Marseille and make the Orange Vélodrome the scene of a major turning point in women's football.
In this spirit, Olympique de Marseille and the Marseillaises are sending a strong message: women's football is everyone's business. By opening the doors of the Orange Vélodrome wide with free access for the general public, the club is inviting everyone - supporters, families, enthusiasts and the curious - to come and experience and share this historic event. This is a conscious effort to bring people together, unite them and make Marseille a stronghold of women's football, where sporting excellence is accompanied by a popular ambition that is accessible to as many people as possible.

Since the creation of the ‘Les Marseillaises’ brand and the rollout of a strong visual and cultural identity, Olympique de Marseille has asserted a clear ambition: to give its women's team a place that reflects its values, history and future. This first match at the Orange Vélodrome is a natural step in this trajectory, giving concrete and visible form to a project conceived as a true sporting, cultural and popular revolution, faithful to a founding principle: all revolutions begin with a Marseillaise.
Beyond the sporting event, this fixture is a true cultural celebration with numerous activities inside and outside the stadium surrounding the match, reflecting a broader dynamic: that of a club faithful to its identity, deeply rooted in its city and resolutely focused on the future. A vision where sporting ambition, collective commitment and popular fervour are expressed without distinction.
The Marseillaises are entering the Orange Vélodrome to write their own revolution and take over their city's stadium. And like all great revolutions, this one cannot exist without the people: admission for the general public will be exceptionally free of charge via reservation on our OM.fr ticket office for this event made in Marseille.
Marseille will not be a spectator to history. Marseille will be history:
see you on Saturday 28 March at 6.30pm.
