Olympique de Marseille is delighted to announce the signing of young Brazilian left winger Igor Paixão.

In the Curiaú neighbourhood of Macapá, in northern Brazil, a boy named Igor Guilherme Barbosa da Paixão was born on 28 June 2000. From an early age, he had an unquenchable passion for football. Spotted during a trial in 2014, he joined the Coritiba academy, where his perseverance shaped his destiny.

After signing a professional contract in October 2018, Igor made his first-team debut in June 2019. Building on this initial experience, he accepted a loan move to Londrina in Serie C in 2020. With the ‘Blue and Whites’, he scored four goals and helped the club gain promotion to Serie B.

Back at Coritiba, he established himself as a first-team regular, scored his first goals in Serie A, and in 2022 extended his contract until 2024, with offers already flooding in.

In August 2022, Feyenoord offered him a five-year contract: it was his big break to the Old Continent.

He discovered European football in the Netherlands and continental competition in the Europa League. Igor racked up assists and goals. He scored in January 2023 and played an active role in Feyenoord's national title win in May 2023, notably with a decisive goal against Go Ahead Eagles.

The 2023–24 season saw Paixão triumph in the Dutch Cup, scoring the decisive goal in the final against NEC Nijmegen (1–0), and win the Johan Cruyff Shield (Dutch Champions Trophy) in August 2024. He also scored one of the goals of the season in the Eredivisie with his monumental strike against Utrecht.

The following season was one of triumph. In March 2025, the Brazilian set the scoreboard alight with a hat-trick and two assists in a memorable 6-2 victory over Twente. It was a rare and remarkable performance. The left winger continued his good form with a spectacular end to the season, scoring seven more goals and providing three assists to finish with a total of 18 goals and 14 assists for the campaign.

On 21 May 2025, he was crowned Dutch Footballer of the Year. At international level, he was called up for the Brazilian Olympic team for the first time in August 2023. In February 2025, he was included in a preliminary squad of 52 players for the national team.

Beyond the statistics, he is a character forged by humility and determination: this winger carries the weight of his origins with pride. He is a complete player, capable of breaking through the opposition's lines, thinking about his positioning, combining with his teammates while working passionately on his finishing.

Welcome to Olympique de Marseille, Igor!
