On the first day of the Arkema Première Ligue, Marseille lost 3-1 in Lyon, but did not disappoint.

For their debut in the Arkema Première Ligue, Marseille faced the best teams in France and Europe. Since 2004, OL has won 18 French championships, 10 French Cups and 8 Champions Leagues. Faced with this giant of women's football, OM stood their ground, without blushing and without losing face.

Lyon returned to the dressing room at half-time with a single goal lead. In the second half, the reigning French champions found the back of the net twice more through Joseph (58') and Yohannes (63'). Our players never gave up, fighting for every ball and not shying away from putting in the extra effort. This burst of energy finally paid off at the end of the match. After a run down the right wing by Tess Laplacette, our captain sent a pinpoint pass to Mathilde Bourdieu, who fired the ball into the Lyon net. It was a great way to save face and reward an encouraging performance by the Marseille women.

On the next matchday of the Arkema Première Ligue, on Friday 21 September, OM will host Le Havre AC. In the meantime, the Marseillaises will play their first match of the Women's League Cup on Saturday 13 September, away to Montpellier.
