In its UEFA Youth League debut, OM took the lead twice before finally succumbing to Real Madrid on their home turf.

OM played well and deserved better. Our young players put in a great performance against Real Madrid at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium. Well organised and covering every area of the pitch perfectly from the start of the match, our team found the breakthrough at the very end of the first half with a fine move finished off by Tadjidine Mmadi.

After the break, a stroke of bad luck brought the Spaniards back into the game with an own goal by Gianni Calisto. While attempting to clear the ball in the box, the young Marseille player, on the ground, wrong-footed Yassine Badaoui.

This unfortunate equaliser did not dampen the Olympians' spirits, and they continued to push forward. They managed to regain the lead, once again thanks to Tadjidine Mmadi, who received a nice pull-back cross. There was a quarter of an hour left to play, but Madrid turned the tide in ten minutes. Martin first equalised before the referee awarded Madrid a generous penalty. Barroso stepped up and converted it, giving the home side the lead for the first time in the game. Real managed to hold on to their lead until the end of seven minutes of added time.

In the next match, on 30 September at 2.30 p.m., OM will host Ajax at the Francis-Turcan stadium in Martigues.
